PROUD OF THE TEAM IN FIRST SUPRA STEP IN SYDNEY

G’day, guys.

Well, here we are. We’re racing again in 2026, first race back, and it’s been super cool to see the brand new Supra with the No. 1 on it and to see all of the hard work the guys and girls have put into it.

Just first of all, I’m so proud of all the guys and girls at Walkinshaw TWG Racing for bringing a new manufacturer into the sport and having a reasonably good finish to the first weekend — and man does the car look awesome on track in the sunshine and under lights.

It was a bit of an up-and-down weekend for us in terms of results here debuting the new GR Supra, but Sydney isn’t a real judgement of where we are. We do know we have a lot of work to do, but we’re excited for the future and to be developing something new.

We got out first crack at qualifying on Friday this weekend, the first day at the track, but we struggled to get the performance out through trying to tune the car.

That said, I was able to always generally race forward a little bit, which was good. I started the first race 20th and finished 15th, and that was with me and Woody (Ryan Wood) being the only two drivers in the field to take two tyres. We thought a lot more teams would have done that, but they didn’t, so that wasn’t ideal, and it was a tough result to take despite moving forward.

We got caught out in the rain during Saturday qualifying and ended up starting 22nd, which was a shame because the crew did a mega job turning the car around overnight. The package was a lot stronger that what we rolled out with on Friday — and we don’t take that for granted — and we came home a solid 11th before unfortunately being disqualified with a technical thing that didn’t create and performance gain.

But the highlight of the weekend was saved for Sunday. It was pretty special to race form 16th on the grid and finish fourth and have my mate Woody finish in the top five as well — and he sure was putting me through the paces towards the end of that race.

It was a tough and long race, with the temperature in the mid-30s — and that was outside the car. It was a bit more of a lottery, a bit more chaotic out there with weather on the horizon and the rain eventually arriving to shake things up. The guys did awesome in the stops, and we just ended up in the mix and stayed out of trouble to finish just off the podium.

I was really proud of the weekend despite the mixed bag of results for car 1, but no doubt we’ve got a lot of work to do. There’s still plenty of things to learn, we need to put our heads together in the next couple of weeks so we can attack even stronger at the grand prix. I’m excited to see the next round and to keep making baby steps and going forward.

Finally, I wanted to say a massive thankyou to all of our supporters this weekend for coming across to the Toyota GR Supra with us. It’s really special to see how many of you were in Sydney at the weekend.

Hold tight. We’ll have some good results coming, and we appreciate you coming along on the journey with us.

See you in Melbourne.

Cheers,

Chaz.
