Podium Finish for Mostert at Taupō Super440 🇳🇿

G'day guys,

What a weekend at Taupō! Two races, a podium, and a cyclone - not your average Supercars round. Really stoked with how the Mobil 1 Optus Supra performed and we came away with some really positive momentum.

We qualified P7 for the opening race and I felt really good off the start, moving up to P5 in the opening laps. The car had a strong pace early and we were managing the tyres well through the stint. We pitted on lap 18 for four new tyres and rejoined in around P4 which was a solid spot to be in.

The final stint was a bit trickier - the tyre life started working against us late in the race and we dropped back to finish P7. Not the result we wanted but we learned a lot heading into the feature race.

Race 9 was a lot of fun. Qualified sixth and got a great launch off the line, working my way up to fifth in the opening laps. The first stint was really intense and I was pushing hard the whole way through. After pitting on lap 23, I think I got a bit of a telling off from Scaff over the radio after I told him I was going to drive this thing hard and fast!

Overtook De Pasquale for fifth and kept pushing, getting myself up to third before the final stop. We came out in a great spot in P2, had a big battle with Broc then took the chequered flag in P3.

Really satisfying to be on the podium and great to be rewarded for the work the whole team has been putting in.

Unfortunately Sunday's Race 10 was cancelled with Cyclone Vaianu closing in on the Waikato region - the right call by Supercars and the safety of everyone in New Zealand comes first.

The race gets rescheduled to Friday in Christchurch which means a big four-race weekend is coming up.

The team has climbed from P6 to P2 in the Teams' Championship this weekend which is a massive result for everyone who has put so much work in behind the scenes.

Hopefully everyone in New Zealand stays really safe over the next few days.

Cheers,

Chaz
