My First Race Win in the Toyota Supra!

My First Race Win in the Toyota Supra!

G'day Guys,

What a weekend in Tasmania. We kicked things off the best way possible with a race win and pole position on Saturday — my first in Toyota colours — and while the weekend had its ups and downs from there, we leave Symmons Plains with real momentum heading into Darwin.

Saturday qualifying was one of those sessions where the Mobil 1 Optus Toyota Supra just felt right straight away. The conditions were mixed and tricky but I put together a clean lap and landed maiden Toyota pole position for Race 14. A massive feeling for the whole team.

Race 14 was one of those days where everything clicks. I reclaimed the lead on lap two, the boys absolutely nailed the pit stop with 28 laps to go, and I rejoined in clear air and just kept building the gap to the flag.

Getting that first Toyota win was unreal, it was awesome to share the podium with Dave Reynolds and Brodie Kostecki. The team have done an awesome job developing the Toyota Supra and the strides they've taken forward is nothing short of impressive.

The second qualifying session dried out and the field got incredibly tight. I narrowly missed the top 10 cut and started P13 for Race 15. In the race there was some chaos in the mid-pack early on and then contact with Ojeda earned us a 15-second time penalty. We pitted early to serve it which dropped me to the back of the field. I kept pushing and was one of the faster cars out there but couldn't recover past P20. It stings but that's racing.

Sunday was a completely different challenge. We lined up P18 for the 200km finale, with three compulsory stops putting strategy front and centre. The team did a brilliant job working those stops, just ran out of laps but crossed the line ninth, nine positions gained.

Overall really happy with the weekend. Getting my first win and pole for Toyota in front of the Tassie fans was amazing, and the direction this team is heading is exciting. Plenty more to come. Looking forward to Darwin for the Indigenous Round, the livery is going to be a special one.

Cheers,

Chaz
