Fifth at the Bathurst 1000 😃

Hey everyone,

Well, there you go, the Great Race has come and gone and boy was it a big one at the Mountain ⛰️

A lot of chaos kicked off the weekend with a few cars going into the wall during the opening sessions. You wouldn’t expect anything less at Bathurst though, this track requires full commitment and as I know better than most, any slight mistake can end your weekend 😅

We were chasing our tails for the majority of the weekend, just unable to replicate the pace that we unlocked throughout the mid-stage of the year. The team did a great job by throwing a bunch of different things at the car, and it progressively got better, but just not quite our weekend.

Managed to punch our ticket into the shootout after the practice sessions which was good, it’s such a special session to get the Mountain to yourself for one lap on Saturday, so I was grateful that we made it into that one. It wasn’t easy, although the team, myself, and Leeroy hustled and made it happen.

Top ten shootout came around on Saturday afternoon and we made some tweaks to dial in the #25, I gave it a good crack during the lap although, between myself and the setup, we missed the mark and put together a lap that was good enough for P9. Not our best lap, but with Bathurst being such a long race, the start position isn’t as key as some of these other races.

Onto the race, and honestly, not a lot happened until around lap 130-ish 😂 Not to say we weren’t pushing, because we were, but the field spread out in those early stages meaning a lot of us were in no man's land. It wasn’t until later in the race that things tightened up thanks to a safety car, and we were brought back in the fight whilst running in P6.

That was a good opportunity to get amongst it again, and I brought back the old school Tickford glory days with Cam (Waters), made one move and finished up in P5, which wraps up our weekend at the Mountain ⛰️

Not what we were looking for, but I think that both Leethal and I maximised what we had, tried to wring its neck to bring it home. Car speed wasn’t quite there this weekend, especially in a straight line some cars were crazy fast, but all in all, P5 was the best we could have hoped for I think.

Thanks heaps to all the fans that came out, see you in Gold Coast!

Chaz 🤙
