How good is it to be back racing!

Has been a massive effort from all the teams, not just ours to get everyone on track. Regardless of results I think everyone should be pretty proud of themselves.

We ran through the motions on Friday through the 2 practice sessions on Friday, it was really kind of like test Number 4 for us to get everything dialled for the weekend.

Saturday started with Quali and we picked up where we left off coming second - I’ll admit I left a little on the table in the shootout and started our first race of 2023 from P7.

Our first race wasn’t going to be easy we had 95 laps (250km) and it was 33 degrees on just the ground, I don’t even want to know what it was in the cabin!

It was a clean opening half of the race and we pushed into the top 5 but the real work came in the final stint, we managed to claim the fastest lap and finish P4.

I was thinking I could catch a podium position but just ran out of time. Went home Saturday night thinking we didn’t get our hands on a trophy but the T8 team was disqualified so was promoted to P2 for the race result which was a nice reward for our team.

On Sunday I did much better in the Top 10 Shootout, grabbed a spot on the front row although it wasn’t pole (0.005 seconds off), had a good start and got into the lead.

Due to a crash off the start line, the race was red flagged but once the race restarted I was able to maintain the lead for 85 out of the 89 laps, just ran out of tyre life in the last few laps unfortunately!

It is good to be in the Championship lead, after Round 1 it doesn’t mean too much but is still pretty cool.

Speak to you guys after AusGP! Will be great to be back on track with the F1 circus.
