DOUBLE PODIUM IN SEASON OPENER 🏆

DOUBLE PODIUM IN SEASON OPENER 🏆
Hey Guys,

I tell ya what, it’s good to be back. It definitely felt weird coming to Bathurst for the first round of the year, nevertheless it definitely worked for us. We bagged some huge points over the round, to come away with two podiums and currently sit second in the championship – I’m feeling pretty good right now, not gonna lie.

Friday was a good day. Lap after lap, the car was flying around the mountain – coming into the weekend, we were confident into the car we had, but after Practice 1 & 2, we had a rocket.

Qualifying for Race 1 wasn’t as strong as I liked, the shootout was a massive blow for the pace the car had. Frustrating to start the race in P6, but you’ve gotta move on quick, especially at Bathurst!

Once the lights went out, I knew I had to be aggressive from the get-go and hope I was near the front to battle for a podium late in the piece.

And there I was, at the pointy end at the death, trying to take the win off SVG. I definitely felt I could of passed him with another five laps to go, but I just started too far back.

The shootout didn’t go to plan either on Sunday.  It wasn’t a nice feeling nudging the exit of Forest Elbow after running across a dirty track in the shootout, but still managed to roll in for a P5 start.

The car was quick from lights out, and I found a rut pretty early as I surged through a few cars up the field. It was tight at the top, and P3 was as good as it got for today.

Overall, a mega start to the season. The Walkinshaw Andretti United Team have got the #25 car dialled, we’re really started to gel in our second year together. There’s still some work to do, but it’s nice to have the tools in the toolbox to work with, so I’m really excited to get down to Sandown in a few weeks, I really like it there.

Looking forward to having a few Woodstock Bourbons tonight back at the house!

Cheers, Chaz.
