PODIUM AND POINTS FOR MOZZIE IN TASSIE 🏆

Hey everyone,

Well, that’s a bloody relief! As a lot of you know, we struggled a lot on the super soft tyre the last time out, so to come out firing in Tassie and put some good points in the bank gives us a lot of confidence, and it’s a huge credit to the Walkinshaw Andretti United team 💪

Rolling out for Practice 1 on Friday, things were a bit daunting as we weren’t quite on the pace, although Symmons Plains is a really hard circuit to gauge where you’re at because times are so close. A wet session on Saturday didn’t help the cause, not being able to properly run through overnight setup changes, but we entered qualifying with optimism 😅

Thankfully, the team did an amazing job tuning up the car overnight, and that showed in qualifying, as we were there or thereabouts in the fight for the top ten. The intensity in those knockouts is super high, especially on such a tight track, but I think we maximised it to finish with P5.

That almost felt as good as a pole, again considering where we’ve come from on that compound. The race for us also was a great one, with WAU giving me a great strategy with three new tyres in my stop, and I pushed until the end, ultimately finishing up in P2, which was another huge credit to the team.

Sunday arrived and fingers were crossed for a strong run, with my car feeling good when we rolled out for practice. Qualifying was a bit messy for me in the end, with just a few mistakes costing me a bit of time which you can’t afford here, putting me in P11 😵‍💫

Put my head down in the race and made steady progress through the field in what was a pretty chaotic 55 laps, but we kept clean, the pitstop was clean, and managed to claw my way up into P4 which again was a mega result, and some great points towards the championship.

Overall, really happy with the weekend in Tassie given the nerves we had rolling in, and I think we’ll all sleep a little better knowing that this one is out of the way 😂

That’s a wrap on the sprint season for 2024, and again, this event was such a testament to the team. We struggled in Darwin, and this round was still circled as a bit of a smokey - a bit of an unknown, but WAU tuned it up and provided me with a great car, and a great weekend.

Catch you at the Enduro opener in Sandown!

Yeeeeew!

Chaz 🤙
